Discover one of the world's most beautiful archipelagos with a kayak. You can easily go between islets and find your very own gem at sea. It's easy to enter your kayak at the beach approximately 300 m from our facility. You can rent your kayak at Hamburgsund Activity Center.
Experience the archipelago by hiking at your own pace. In Heestrand there are walking paths nearby by the water. You can also find nice walking paths nearby that go over coastal meadows, cliffs and in lush forests and are well suited for day trips. Read more for our best recommendations.
Cycle along gravel and country roads and experience more of the surroundings around Heestrand. The Gerlesborg Cultural Center, the rock carvings in Torsbo, Valön Nature Reserve are all destinations that are close by. Bicycles can be rented through the reception desk, who are happy to advise you on excursion destinations or tours.
Outside Hamburgsund you can find the beautiful island of Kalvö where Åsa and Anders Hardin live and manage the oyster farm that has been in the family for generations. Learn all about oysters, harvesting them yourself and then eat them in a genuine boathouse setting on Kalvö. We have great package offers for both large and small groups, which also include a boat trip to and from the island.
Get somethings very special out of your stay with us and accompany M/S Mira on a boat trip in the Fjällbacka archipelago. Together with the professional fisherman Ingemar Granqvist, you can go on fishing trips for either mackerel, crayfish or lobster. Ingemar also runs guided archipelago tours and tells the stories of the islands in the archipelago. Tours from Heestrand can also be arranged.
Have a wonderful archipelago experience and enjoy the summer with a sauna and hot tub right by the sea at Badholmen in Fjällbacka. This is also recommended in the autumn and winter. We can transport you both by bus or boat if you don't have your own transportaion method. Bookings can be made in the reception area.
Nordens Ark is perfect for a day trip. Walk through the fantastic park for endangered animals and see everything from tigers to snow leopards. The facility is open all year round and also has a Christmas market in winter. Bring your own lunch basket or enjoy the food they offer. A wonderful excursion for the whole family.
At Havets Hus in Lysekil you get the opportunity to discover the life in the ocean. This huge indoor aquarium has around 40 aquariums all filled with exciting creatures. A really exciting and educational experience, for everyone!
At the outskirts of Hamburgsund you will find Scen på Bönn, a lovely amphitheater in the quarry. It is a wonderful destination all year round and in the summer it hosts concerts and theater productions. Book tickets online for all events at Hamburgsunds Activity Center
The municipality of Tanum is proud to be included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The rock carvings that were carved here about 3000 years ago tells a fantastic story about our past. Visit the museum, let the children discover the Bronze Age village and look at the fantastic carvings. Do not forget to bring a picnic basket!
In Hamburgsund, Fjällbacka and Grebbestad, several nice small shops are worth a visit, such as interior, designer clothing, and shoe shops. Within a 30-minute journey, you can reach the Nordic region's largest sports store Sportshopen and the shopping mall Tanums Shoppingcenter, which in addition to a large selection of stores also has restaurants and playgrounds.
